Plantitude opens
Plantitude is the first 100% plant-based restaurant in the Cowichan Valley. It is located in a beautifully restored building on Ladysmith’s historic main street. The restaurant’s tag line is kind food, which immediately resonated with me. It is food which aims to be kind to your body, kind to animals, and kind to the environment.
I started working at the restaurant about a month before opening, so I had the opportunity to help refine and develop recipes and set-up kitchen processes. It has been challenging, creative and fun, which makes for an amazing learning experience.
Right now, the restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., the hope is to soon be open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The restaurant’s approach to food (100% plant-based) and its hours of operation are bold for this region of Vancouver Island, but if the early response from customers is any indication - being trailblazers will payoff.
